Some questions

1. I'll be coming to the festival from belgium, since I have a wedding the 14th, I'll probably won't be able to start my trip the 15th and so I'll arrive there (hopefully) somewhere in the afternoon or evening of the 15th, will I still be able to put up my tent somewhere?
Or if someone has some place over in their tent (I'll be coming alone)...
2. How best travel to there? I'll be taking the eurostar to London and then take a train to Cardiff, and then? bus, train,...?

Hi
Train to Newport then train to Abergavenny- they usually run a shuttle bus to the site not sure the times it finishes.
Taxi from Abergavenny to the site would be around £15 to 20 I would imagine.

There should be plenty of space to pitch left. In 2006 there were people still putting up tents in the rain at about 10pm on the Saturday. I wouldn't recommend that, though.

Thanks for the replys!
Will take train to Newport and then train to Abergavenny
not really used to taking trains in the UK, is the name of the stop clearly indicated on the platform when you enter a station, do they announce the stop on the train?
or do I best ask someone to inform me when the train arrives at the station I need to be?
How far is Abergavenny from the site (I'm planning on doing some hiking/hitchhiking after the festival through Wales for a couple of months, so if it's not too far I'll walk the end)
Is the site easy to find from Abergavenny?

Hi ursaminor,
The station name will be visible on the platform and is usually also announced on the train.
To get to Newport you need to take any Cardiff Central or Swansea service from London Paddington station.
Have a look at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk This will give you details of the journey and connections. You will need to wait until 12 weeks before your date of travel though and be sure to check back nearer the time at there are often changes and diversions at the weekend.
It is also advisable to buy your ticket in advance as it will be much cheaper (rail travel in the UK can be very expensive compared with Belgium).
Abergavenny is approximately 15 km from the site. It is easy to find.
The 'unofficial' forum at http://greenmanfest.proboards57.com/ has a liftshare request section that will be busy nearer the time of the festival. You will probably pick up a lif offer from Abergavenny or Newport (or even London).
I agree that you will have no problem finding a pitch if you arrive on the 15th.

thanks for the info! Already planned on buying my ticket in advance to save some up on money.
Will see if I take the shuttlebus or go by foot. Since it will probably be already friday late afternoon (or maybe already evening) when I arrive there. Don't know if I'll still be able to find a lift from London, if I arrive there pretty late.
Hopefully I'll be able to buy a ticket from here, I have maestro, but to arrange the payment, they're asking for some security code (which apparently should be on the back of my card, but only phonenumbers there), best go ask in the bank if they know what is meant

Its really easy to get the train connection from Newport to Abergavenny ... follow tonnes of people with backpacks to the correct platform for the train to Abergavenny
The shuttle bus from Abergavenny station was 6 pounds each way last time very regular some people got taxis as well if four share its about the same about 20pounds. I love a good walk but its a good 15km with a backpack maybe spend the money for the journey there , hitch back .

yeah, will take the shuttle bus to get to the festival and hike or hitchhike back to Newport and there start my trip through Wales!
still haven't got a ticket, haven't been able to get to the bank to get a credit card, will go ask for one tomorrow, by the end of next week I'll hopefully have one and hopefully I can get a ticket that way
will be a long trip : 30 min to the station in Bruges, +- 1h on the train to Brussels, wait +- 7h to get the first eurostar on the morning of the 15th, +- 2h on the eurostar to London, get to the right station in London, +- 2h on the train to Newport, then the train to Abergavenny, shuttle bus and then the first day of the festival ahead, I will sleep well the first night
