I'm getting the train direct to Abergavenny from Chester. There is a direct service from Holyhead to Chester, so myabe you could get that and chnage at Chester? I would imagine that's the simplest way to do it by train.

I'm pretty sure you can get trains direct from holyhead to abergaveny fairly regularly during daytime. That is probably the easiest, price wise maybe another story?

There are direct trains from Holyhead to Cardiff that call at Abergavenny. Think there every two hours or so. The alternative is to get one to Crewe and change there. Not a huge difference in travelling time either way.
Prices are extortionate - check whether two singles are as cheap or cheaper. If you don't get an offer of a lift down then you might meet someone at the festival who can give you a lift some or all of the way back.
