Driving up - Confused

Hi,
We're driving up and looking to go to the General camping entrance. However, on the instructions it says "continue on the A465" (HEADS OF THE VALLEY ROAD).
This seems to send you away from the Glanusk site, whereas the Family camping instructions send you right to it (into crickhowell on the A4077)
Anybody shed any light on this?

As far as I know and as far as the FAQ's say, you should head towards the A40. This was the entrance last year and I don't think it's any different this year. Are the ticket directions trying to work you round the A465 and onto the A40?

Yeah I'm travelling up from south wales, and the mailing list gumpf says:
GENERAL CAMPING - From the South & East / A40: Coming from the East along the A40, just before you get to Abergavenny take the 2nd Exit off the roundabout onto A465 towards Merthyr Tydfil. After approx 3 miles take the 2nd exit off the roundabout continuing on the A465. After approx 4.5 miles, turn right at the roundabout continuing on the A465. After approx 1.5 miles take a left sign posted Llangynidr, at the top of the slip road take a right. Continue for approx 6 miles over the hills, taking a right at the bottom. After approx 1 mile carry on over the hump-back bridge. The General Camping Gate is approx 0.5 miles on your left.
I don't understand the bit I highlighted. Do you have to go left all around the beacons national park bit? Because for family camping you just carry on towards crickhowell.

I think they're trying to avoid traffic jams by sending people two different ways - so I suppose the sensible thing to do is to follow instructions and head over the hills, although if the roads are quiet I'll be tempting just to follow the family camping instructions and then carry on to general admission car park.

yeah that must be what they're doing. I njust wondered if there was no way through for general campers if you go the crickhowell way - don't want to have to go all the way back round.

My guess is it'll be fine, from what I remember from last year it was nothing like glasto where half the roads are blocked off and they herd you around like sheep. I'm sure there'll be people getting lost and turning up from all sorts of directions so am pretty sure they wouldn't make you turn around. No guarantees though!

Could everyone please follow the directions on the back of the ticket.
The route is planned with the council to manage the increased numbers of vehicles.
There maybe quicker routes but you are more likely to encounter bottle necks and traffic jams if you use them.
All the camping access routes are not off the A40 as the car parks have been moved.
I hope that answers your question.
