Getting supplies from the car to the Tent.
Aug 02, 2008, 20:50
This is our first Green Man Festival and if all goes well we will be arriving Thursday late afternoon ish. We are planning to buy most of our food from the various outlets etc. We are planning to bring in a small stove to make drinks etc. How easy is it to get stuff in and out of the car park ?
Can we buy milk etc ?
Is it possible to cook a few meals in the camp site ? etc.

There is a general store type tent which has outrageous prices (last year)
Crickhowell has a 2 general stores 5 mins in car a bit longer walking.
Abergavenny has a waitrose and a tesco.
can be a bit of a hike to the tent from the car park. If there is more than one drive up to the camp entrance drop the stuff and then park
What we did last year

It was bloomin miles last year from the car to the camping! Down a nicely prepared slippy bit of steep banking too.

Hours of fun watching people tumble over with handfuls camping essentials but surely they could design it so that the cars were nearer the camping area?

Depends where you are. If you're in the family camping area and you get there on Thursday it's not a particularly long walk (though it is worse dragging everything back up the hill on monday morning!). I'd suggest don't try to take everything at once - get the tent up and then amble back occasionally for supplies.

Are we talking Glastonbury style 45 minute treks from the car park here, or a more sedate but annoying 20 minute struggle up hill and down dale?

my new tent is much heavier than i thought :-(

Oh, it's a sedate and mildly irritable 20 minute pleasure plod up and down a easily achievable hillock with fantastic scenery and a lovely bridge to traverse halfway. There are plenty of bag down and tinny out locations, and none of the 100,000+ idiots with far too much enthusiasm trampling over you. Think Glasto and then forget it.
