Pentangle

We are certainly in for a treat to finish off this years festival. I was lucky enough to see Pentangle last night in a warm up gig at Colchester Arts Centre. They were fabulous. My first visit to a "proper" folk club though and probably my last - jeezus it was a joyless place. Polite clapping, silence between songs, people knitting, bar shut during the set.
but likesay - Bert and the boys (and girl) were mesmerising.
PS. they're doing another show in colchester tonight, and if last night is anything to go by it will be far from sold out.

Hmm, it doesn't sound like a proper folk club to me - more like an arts centre!
Definitely looking forward to seeing them - I've seen Bert a few times now including a few shows with Beth Orton at the (now closed) Spitz club in London. He's excellent - can't wait for the full Pentangle experience!

I'm seeing them on Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall, can't wait. I didn't know about these warm up dates, I'm glad to hear they were good.

Damned good in London last night. A few dodgy moments but great on the whole.

I saw Pentangle play St David's Hall in Cardiff last night and they were amazing!
Such a lovely atmosphere, it was a pleasure to be part of it. It was an absolutely stunning evening, and I can't wait to see them play Greenman - it will be a real treat.
Yay for Jo and Danny!

The mail out sent a link to a 5 star review in The Times for their London show and I just read a 4 start review for the same gig in today's Guardian, so it looks like we really are for a treat!

I saw the first gig at the Royal Festival Hall and it was absolutley, without a doubt, the best gig I've ever seen. The highlite for me was JR getting down on the floor to play sitar for the House Carpenter.
I am biased however - I grew up listening to them and have been wishing they would get back together for the last 10 years! For me it was a dream come true - and was the main reason I decided to come to the festival! This will be a truly memorable set and I hope you all enjoy.
Although have since heard Iron and Wine and Laura Marling are playing which I'm really looking forward to as well (among lot's of others).
