The Olympics

Saw the end of the Olympics on the TV and Britain's bus coming into the event.

It was an incredible spectacle and we held it together then it was cut to London and a free event in front of Buckingham Palace. Put it this way it was far short of Beijing.

No one does 'London Calling' like The Clash ! ; I found the music that had been assembled for this Olympic celebration rather bizarre and/or ridiculous ie. McFly / Feeling etc..

Does anyone agree with me that witnessing Leona 'bloody' Lewis murder Whole Lotta Love was an absolute travesty? Apparently they chose a Zeppelin song as they are the greatest musical talent this country has ever had...................... fair enough, I agree with that, but to have someone who won the X Factor sing alongside Jimmy Page and effectively taking the role of Planty is kicking that statement right in the nuts. Please someone agree with me coz in my house nobody understands my anger. aaaaaahhhhhhhh!

I found the whole thing cheesy and boring.

I think Strummer would be swiveling if he knew that anything he wrote was associated with this travesty.

The problem with this was that it was half baked. Either go for the big x-factor produced pulp and get the boy bands out or put the real acts on stage.

To do cover versions of Bowie and Clash classics was like demoting them to lift music.

I must admit I quite liked the bus though.

I was against the Olympics being in China due to their human rights or lack of them. I wonder if the publicity surrounding them in this event will change some of their social policies?

I agree it was pants and why do all these things have to be in London. Why not Cardiff?

Its the English Olympics NOT the Welsh or Scottish.

I think it is good that it is in London. If we are going to have it then the size, transport links and sites make it the natural site for the Olympics.

Not sure if we should have gone down this path at all though?
