£3.50 a pint for 2nd rate beer?

There really is no need for it. I would've (reluctantly) paid that if the beer was any good. It wasn't. I would normally expect to get through 20 or so pints over the weekend. As it was, I bought one pint. No wonder everyone smuggles their own in.

You should have gone for some Brains bitter, which was 3 quid a pint. Or, alternatively, brought your own - there were no restrictions on campsite beer. Or you could have gone to the V Festival the same weekend, where you'd have been charged 4 quid for a pint of bleach/Stella!

you should look at this link.
You must have very little experience of going to festivals to think that the cost of booze at green man is high. More to the point as one of the few festival left which is non-corporate it relies on bar income to happen at all in this way.
I don't smuggle booze in and I think it really un-green man to do it.

Really?? I thought that Reverend James beer was lovely! The cider was good too. I've been to gigs where I've been charged £4 for a 440ml CAN of Red Stripe so I don't feel even faintly ripped off by the Green Man bars.
On another note, I thought the service at all the bars was excellent - the staff were quick as well as being a good laugh. Even in the busiest bars at the busiest times, I don't think I waited longer than five minutes to be served. I didn't even need to get my elbows out!

I have to congratulate the barman in the Green Man Cafe bar that told the obnoxious twat next to me to stop berating him to be served next, as it turned out for just ONE pint of lager.
The said barman calmly stopped what he was doing, explained that there were many people waiting patiently unlike him, and carried on serving. I think a special mention for all the bar staff for their enthusiasm and professional conduct cos in that situation I would have leaned over and smacked the c**t.
I didn't think the bar prices were too bad, enjoyed all the drink on offer, but wasn't completely convinced by the Tricky cider, and by the way, wot no perry?

Agree totally. Brought my own perry but if suitable arrangements are in place for next year I'll spend even more in the bars :-)

This was my first festival, I was expecting the prices to be a lot higher. I don't think £3.50 is too expensive for a pint, we pay about £3 in Newcastle. The Addlestones Cider was excellent. I agree with the comments about the bar staff, their service was very efficient and beer was always served with a smile.

£3.50 isn't too bad - if it doesn't run out! At other festivals we're used to four or five top quality different ales and it doesn't run out after two hours (Reverend James). Even though the bar staff were fabulously friendly - the choice and quality of the beer was simply not up to scratch.
Someone at one of the bars said a delivery wagon had got stuck - but that was Sunday - there were problems well before that.
Choice and organisation of the beer was simply not good enough and can and should be improved.

Just got back from Towersey. £2.90 for a pint of Brakspears from the barrel. That's more like it! Don't defend rip-off prices just because other festivals do it.
