Back to basics v gimmicks in Guardian

great article in the Guardian...
Well done Green Man for not putting up with the hype and saying something. It is getting like the emperors new clothes with the amount of posturing that is going on when festivals are being marketed. These promoters must think we are stupid.
Green Man is the only really honest event left.

I totally agree with you.
I was getting to the point where I thought no one seemed to be bothered and then I saw this. The amount of corn coming out of festival promotion at the moment is both overwhelming and arrogant. I think some of these advertising companies think they are selling to sheep who just believe everything we are told. But I suppose when you see what people like on TV big brother, xfactor etc I can see why they think we are stupid.
I for one do care where I spend my money and want to know what I am buying into, and Green Man is something I respect especially after this..

Really disrespectful to the many people putting on profit free small festivals around the country---the Guardian article does not make this claim---and i'm sure Jo and Danny would not dismiss all other festivals as dishonest.
The Green Man is a fantastic weekend and i always come away discovering new favourite bands and even the mud last year could not dampen the atmosphere but lets not put down other peoples efforts in putting on similar events---there are just so many more good small independent festivals out there now.

How you feel that what I said implied disrespect for events you describe I don't know?
It's because I support truly independent festivals and dislike non-independent events implying they have the same status. It is total hypocritical to say the least, and no one is saying anything about it except Fiona Stewart who is one of the organisers with Jo and Danny.
I am sure that neither Jo, Danny and Fiona dismiss all other festivals as dishonest and neither do I. But some are telling tremendous porkies at the moment, and I don't like to be manipulated in that way.

Sorry if i misunderstood what you were saying but the phrase ONLY really honest event left seems pretty clear cut to me.
