Just want to make a quick shout out to the sound guy for Black Mountain! AMAZING

ooops, sorry, Black Mountain - you were great too. Nearly made my head explode and completely cloaked me into your music. x

It was the most powerful gig of the weekend. Black Mountain blew my mind!

I found them boring :-(

... and went to see Spiritualized instead who I loved.

Now everyone is raving about Black Mountain and dissing Spiritualized

... so I know it's just me :-)

It's simply all down to taste sweetie.

I'd already seen spiritualized three times before so wanted to catch something new. I caught the end of them though and the croud looked like they were positively buzzing! x

Yeah, it is a matter of taste, but both Black Mountain and Spiritualised were great. Black Mountain enjoyed an excellent sound - unlike a lot of other bands who I thought were mixed really badly.

Presumably the bands took their own engineers? I would have thought it would have been an appalingly difficult job engineering the main stage in the wind and rain, especially if you were used to working inside. There wasn't a massive amount of time for set ups was there?

This is a really surprising response as there were huge problems with the Black Mountain sound which really put the band off (they worked through it though). My friend was doing the sound for them and the bass rig was creating a terrible buzz throughout 2/3rds of their set. I'm really surprised that not only did no-one notice but that you thought the sound was one of the best things about it.

Of course the sound guys did a great job to rectify the problem without interrupting the set.

I think there was a problem with the bass sound on an awful lot of the stuff I heard- also on the drums. Presumably there was a limit on overall levels for licencing reasons.

I did find that the acts with the quieter overall sound had the best balance in the mix, although I would have wanted them louder.

There was a mention on one of the organiser's posts about someone having to go and take sound measurements around the local area. Clearly all those residents of the vast housing estates around the festival site need to be protected from being disturbed :-P ... or was it just the local farmers who were rushing down in their tractors on Monday morning to make thousands of tax free pounds from those needing tow-outs?
